Sixty-three bets on six selections

A Lucky 63 covers six selections in every possible combination: 6 singles, 15 doubles, 20 trebles, 15 four-folds, 6 five-folds and 1 six-fold. At £1 a bet that is a £63 stake, and £126 each way.

This is the largest of the three Lucky bets and the point at which the stake starts to dominate the conversation. Sixty-three pounds is a serious outlay for a bet where one winner leaves you well behind.

The bonuses

Bookmakers typically pay double the odds on a single winner and a 25% bonus if all six win. The calculator defaults to both. As always, terms differ: some bookmakers cap the bonus in cash, and most void it entirely if any selection is a non-runner. Check your own account.

Worked example

Six selections at decimal odds of 3.00, 4.00, 5.00, 6.00, 7.00 and 8.00, £1 per bet, so £63 staked.

• All six win: £75,598.75 with the 25% bonus. This is the number the bet is sold on.
• One wins (the 3.00): £6 back at double the odds — a £57 loss on your £63.

Those two lines sit at opposite ends of a very long tail. Six selections all winning is a rare event, and the consolation returns under a tenth of your stake. The realistic outcomes are clustered near the bottom.

The stake is the decision

Because the bet count runs ahead of the stake people picture, it is worth setting the unit stake deliberately rather than by habit. At 10p a bet a Lucky 63 costs £6.30; at 50p it is £31.50; at £1 it is £63. Change the stake per bet at the top of the calculator and the whole table rescales.
