Profit Maximiser Review 2026: Cheapest Paid Service or Dated Upsell Machine?

Desk with financial charts and figures being reviewed

Profit Maximiser has been running since 2009, which makes it one of the oldest matched betting services in the UK. It is also, by a wide margin, the cheapest paid one. That combination raises an obvious question: is it a bargain that the bigger services would rather you did not know about, or a product that has been left behind and kept alive by upsells? Having looked at it properly, the answer is a bit of both.

Affiliate disclosure: Smart Money Betting earns a commission if you sign up to Outplayed, OddsMonkey or Profit Maximiser through our links. Our 5.6 out of 10 score and the criticisms below were published before we joined the Profit Maximiser affiliate programme, and neither has been changed since. We point out where our own incentives sit so you can weigh them yourself.

Our verdict: at £12 a month or £99 a year, Profit Maximiser is genuinely cheap, and the core offer library is broader than the price suggests. But the interface looks and feels a decade old, the each-way and dutching tools that make long-term matched betting profitable are locked behind a £150-a-month Betting Mastermind upsell, and the reviews you will find elsewhere online are mostly written by the owner. It is a reasonable choice for a budget-conscious beginner who wants to clear welcome offers. It is a poor choice as a long-term platform.

What is Profit Maximiser?

Profit Maximiser is a matched betting membership run by Mike Cruickshank, who also sells Bonus Bagging (a simpler, offer-by-email product) and Betting Mastermind (a bundle of his other services). The Profit Maximiser membership gives you a members’ area with offer guides, a set of tools and a Telegram group where offers and questions are shared.

It is very much a one-owner operation compared with Outplayed and OddsMonkey, which are now part of the same Gibraltar-registered group. That has upsides (a clear voice, low prices) and downsides (development moves slowly, and there is no large support team).

Pricing: what you pay and what you get

ProductPriceWhat it adds
Profit Maximiser£12/month or £99/yearOffer guides, Odds Matcher, Accumulator Generator, 2 Up Hunter, EV Maximiser, Telegram group
Betting Mastermind£150/month or £450 first yearBundles Profit Maximiser with Bonus Bagging and the each-way and dutching add-ons
7-day free trialFreeAccess to Profit Maximiser before the first payment

At £99 a year, Profit Maximiser costs about 40 per cent of an entry-level Outplayed or OddsMonkey plan. For context, one decent welcome offer covers the annual fee. The 7-day free trial gives you a week to poke around before paying, and we would strongly suggest you use it rather than trusting anyone’s review, including ours.

The catch is Betting Mastermind. Each-way matching and dutching, which are the tools most experienced matched bettors lean on once welcome offers run out, are not in the basic membership. They come via the Mastermind bundle at £150 a month, or £450 for the first year. That is more expensive than the Advanced tier at OddsMonkey or Diamond at Outplayed, both of which include those tools. So the “cheapest” service becomes one of the dearest if you want the full kit.

Offers and tools

The offer library is a pleasant surprise. Profit Maximiser lists 50-plus bookmaker sign-up offers and 50-plus casino offers, with daily reloads posted to the members’ area and Telegram. That is broadly on a par with the big two, and the casino side is included in the base price rather than being a higher tier.

The tools are thinner. The Odds Matcher does the core job of finding close bookmaker-to-exchange matches, and it works, but it is slower and less filterable than the equivalents elsewhere. The Accumulator Generator helps with acca refund offers, the 2 Up Hunter targets early payout promotions, and EV Maximiser is a general expected-value finder. What is missing from the base membership is anything for horse racing extra places, each-way arbs or dutching. If you plan to use our free matched betting calculator alongside a cheap oddsmatcher, this is a workable set-up for welcome offers, but not much beyond.

The interface: dated is the polite word

Almost every independent comment on Profit Maximiser mentions the design, and having used it we understand why. The members’ area is a text-heavy layout with video guides embedded in long pages, and the tools open in what feel like separate mini-sites. It is functional. It is not pleasant, and on a phone it is hard work. If you have seen Outplayed’s interface, the gap is stark.

Some people will not care, and fair enough: profit is profit. But a slow, clunky oddsmatcher costs you real money over time because you spend longer finding matches and occasionally miss the best ones.

Support and community

Support is by email and through the Telegram group. There is no live chat and no seven-day support desk. The Telegram group is active and, to its credit, Mike Cruickshank himself posts there regularly. For a beginner that direct access can be reassuring. For someone who wants a quick answer at 2pm on a Saturday about a bookmaker’s confusing terms, a community group is not the same as a support team.

A word about the reviews you will find online

This deserves its own section. Search for “Profit Maximiser review” and the top result is, at the time of writing, a review published on a site owned by the same person who sells the product. That is a conflict of interest, plain and simple. The review is not dishonest as far as we can tell, but it is marketing, and it should be read as marketing.

Independent signals are thin. Profit Maximiser’s Trustpilot page shows a 3.5 score from just two reviews, which tells you almost nothing either way. Many of the other “reviews” on affiliate sites are rewrites of the sales page. So the honest position is: there is very little independent evidence about this service, and you should use the free trial as your own evidence.

To be even-handed, we have an affiliate relationship with Outplayed and none with Profit Maximiser, so we have an incentive too. That is why this review sticks to things you can check yourself: prices, what is included, and what the free trial shows you.

Who Profit Maximiser suits

It suits a beginner on a tight budget who wants a guided route through the welcome offers, including casino offers, without paying £20-plus a month. At £99 a year the downside is small and the offers alone will return many times that.

It does not suit anyone who wants to make matched betting a steady monthly earner. For that you need racing tools, each-way matching and a fast oddsmatcher, and here that means either paying for Betting Mastermind or moving to another service. See our best matched betting sites round-up and the comparison table for the alternatives. Outplayed’s seven-day trial (card required, so set a reminder to cancel) is the most direct way to see the difference in tools for yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Is Profit Maximiser legit?

Yes. It has operated since 2009 and delivers what it sells: offer guides, tools and a community. Our criticisms are about value and design, not honesty.

How does Profit Maximiser compare with Outplayed?

Profit Maximiser is much cheaper for the basic membership but has fewer tools, a dated interface and no live chat. Outplayed costs £249.99 a year at entry level but includes a faster oddsmatcher, more specialist tools and seven-day support.

Do I need Betting Mastermind?

Not for welcome offers. You only need it if you want the each-way and dutching tools, and at that point a mid-tier plan elsewhere is usually better value.

Does Profit Maximiser have a free trial?

Yes, a 7-day free trial. Use it to test the Odds Matcher speed and the interface before committing to the £99 annual plan.

The 7-day trial

We scored Profit Maximiser 5.6 out of 10, and we would point most people at a mid-tier plan elsewhere first. The reasons are above and we have not softened them. But if the £99 annual price is the deciding factor for you, the free trial is the sensible way to find out before you pay — and this is our affiliate link.
