If you have searched for matched betting for more than five minutes you will have come across Team Profit. It is free, it has a huge Facebook group, and it is where a large share of UK matched bettors did their first offer. This review looks at what it does well, how it pays its bills, where it runs out of road, and when you should think about moving on.
Affiliate disclosure: Smart Money Betting earns a commission if you sign up to Outplayed through our links. We have no affiliate relationship with Team Profit. That does not change our view of either service, and we have tried to be clear about where Team Profit earns its own money too.
Our verdict: Team Profit is the best free matched betting service in the UK and a sensible place for anyone to start. The guides are clear, the oddsmatcher and calculator are good enough for welcome offers, and the Facebook group is large and helpful. The caveats are that it has no advanced matchers, the reload coverage is thin, the Trustpilot score looks impressive but is mostly old, and the business model depends on you signing up to exchanges through its links. Use it to earn your first few hundred pounds, then decide whether a paid service makes sense.
What is Team Profit?
Team Profit is a free matched betting website. You register with an email address and get access to written and video guides for 25-plus bookmaker welcome offers, an oddsmatcher, a matched betting calculator and a profit tracker. There is a Facebook group with more than 30,000 members and an Android app listed on the Play Store. There is also a paid sister product, Team Casino, at £14.99 a month, which covers casino offers.
How a free service makes money
Nobody runs a site with 30,000 members for fun, so it is worth understanding the model. Team Profit earns through affiliate links to betting exchanges, mainly Betfair, Smarkets and Matchbook. When you open an exchange account through its guides, it is paid a commission. That is a perfectly normal arrangement and, importantly, it does not cost you anything: the exchange charges you the same commission either way.
The effect on the content is subtle rather than sinister. The guides are, unsurprisingly, structured around getting you signed up to exchanges early. Some bookmaker offers may be recommended partly because they pay Team Profit too. None of that makes the guides wrong, but it explains why the site is so keen on the first few steps and less thorough about the long tail of reloads.

The welcome offer guides are the heart of it. Each one walks through the bookmaker’s terms, the qualifying bet, the free bet and the common mistakes, with a video for those who prefer to watch. They are pitched at complete beginners and they get the tone right: no jargon, no assumptions.
The oddsmatcher works. It shows bookmaker and exchange odds side by side and ranks them by how close the match is. It covers fewer bookmakers than the paid tools and refreshes less often, so during busy periods you may find the best match has gone by the time you click through. For welcome offers, where you are placing one or two bets per bookmaker, that rarely matters. The calculator does the standard qualifying-bet and free-bet maths; ours at /matched-betting-calculator/ does the same and adds a few extra modes.
The Facebook group
With 30,000-plus members, the group is the closest thing Team Profit has to a support desk, and it is better than that sounds. Questions get answered quickly, often by experienced members, and it is a good place to hear about new offers. The downside of any large group is noise: you will scroll past plenty of “is this offer still on?” posts, and the quality of advice varies. Treat it as a community, not a help line.
About that Trustpilot score
Team Profit shows a 4.9 rating on Trustpilot from around 960 reviews, which is the highest of any service we cover. Look a little closer and only about one of those reviews is from the last twelve months. The score reflects a period a few years ago when the site was actively asking new members to review it. It is not evidence that the service is 4.9-star good today, and it is not evidence that it has got worse either. It is just old. We mention it because it is the number most people quote when recommending Team Profit, and it deserves context.
Where it runs out
Welcome offers across the UK bookmakers add up to something in the region of £800-plus, and Team Profit will get you through most of them. After that, matched betting income comes from reload offers: weekly free bets, extra place races, price boosts, 2Up and acca insurance. This is where Team Profit is weak. There is no extra place tool, no 2Up finder, no price boost tracker and no each-way matcher. Reloads are shared informally in the group rather than curated daily, and you will spend a lot of time checking bookmaker promotion pages yourself.
The mobile experience is fine for reading guides but the Android app is basic, and there is no iPhone app that we could find. If you prefer to do everything on a phone you will be using the website.
When to graduate to a paid service
There is no rule that says you must ever pay for matched betting. Plenty of people do the welcome offers with Team Profit, bank a few hundred pounds and stop. If that is you, well done, you have lost nothing.
The case for paying starts when three things are true at once. First, you have finished most of the welcome offers and want to keep going. Second, you have a few hours a week to spend on reloads. Third, you are finding that the time you spend hunting for offers and matches is worth more than about £20 a month to you. At that point a paid service at £249.99 a year, which is roughly £20.83 a month, tends to pay for itself with two or three decent reload offers a month, and consistent users commonly report £300 to £1,000 a month from reloads alone. We work through that break-even maths in our free vs paid guide.
If you get to that stage, the two main paid options are Outplayed and OddsMonkey, now under the same owner and priced almost identically. Outplayed offers a seven-day free trial (card required) and a 14-day money-back guarantee on its Platinum and Diamond plans, so you can test whether the extra tools change your results before spending anything. Our best matched betting sites round-up and head-to-head cover the differences in detail.
If you are starting from scratch, Team Profit is a fine first stop, and you can register on the Team Profit website. Pair it with our matched betting guide and videos for a second explanation of anything that does not click first time.
Frequently asked questions
Is Team Profit really free?
Yes. The core guides, oddsmatcher, calculator and tracker cost nothing. Team Profit earns commission when you open exchange accounts through its links, which does not affect what you pay the exchange.
Is Team Profit better than Outplayed?
For welcome offers it is nearly as good and it is free. For ongoing reload income Outplayed’s tools, curated offers and support are significantly better, which is what you are paying for.
What is Team Casino?
Team Profit’s paid casino offers service at £14.99 a month. It covers low-risk casino promotions, which carry more variance than sports offers and are best attempted after you are comfortable with the basics.
How much can I make with Team Profit?
Working through the welcome offers it covers, several hundred pounds is realistic. Beyond that, income depends on how many reloads you find and do, which is harder without the advanced tools.
